Description
The villa is a majestic building built in 1851 in an elegant 16th-century style by Count Cesare Renato Birago and designed by architect Sada; two architectural orders, Doric and Composite, essentially constitute its decorations. A monumental stone double-ramp staircase leads to the main entrance. The interior is striking in its grandeur and richness of decorative elements. The large entrance hall is entirely decorated with fine stucco and frescoes, the central hall with 6-meter ceilings is the heart of the mansion, it was used for ceremonies and balls, still standing out are the stuccoes on the ceiling and walls and the majestic Empire-style crystal chandelier. Two other salons and a billiard room make up the other rooms on the second floor, all with parquet flooring still original to the period.
There is also a mezzanine floor, once used for servants’ quarters, and the main floor, where the bedrooms, library and studies were located.
The large kitchens are still visible in the basement.
The villa is surrounded by a vast park with century-old trees and shrubs of fine essences, in which are located the citroniere, greenhouses, stables and a farmhouse once inhabited by factors and gardeners of about 700 square meters.
A villa of particular historical and artistic value, it consists of about 2,280 sq m with an adjoining secular park of about 110,000 sq m com
